The year 2020 has made us face a lot of problems. Natural calamities have put people’s lives on hold. Everyone got a taste of the reality that when the mother nature wants, she can retaliate against the atrocities done by the man in destroying the Earth. People not only faced natural disasters worldwide but also a serious pandemic situation which occurred due to COVID -19, and everyone had to lock themselves inside their houses. Guidelines have been issued in the favour of people, and by following them they could protect themselves and their family members from getting infected. Even after taking so many precautions by the government, people got affected by the virus.
As per various
findings, USA is in the number one position getting affected by the virus which
is about 70 lakh people; approximately 2 lakh people had to lose their lives.
India has become the second most affected country with 56 lakh of people being
infected and over 50k people dead.

These situations
have created panic among normal people and they have started taking extra care
of themselves and their close ones. However, drastic economic fallout has
compelled people to think more about saving their jobs and other support
services which they rely on. As the lock down was in effect for a long period,
people started adopting a sedentary lifestyle resulting in changes in the
sleeping pattern, consuming daily meals at odd hours, and also relying on to
pass their time by consuming different types of unhealthy products, for
instance, alcohol. This lifestyle puts people’s lives at risk as the health
situation got worsens both physically and mentally. As per the guideline
provided by the WHO, old people and children are vulnerable to the virus, so
they are not supposed to go outside of their houses unless it is absolutely
imperative. Doctors are refusing to sit in their clinics as they do not want to
come in contact with any of the infected patients. This has created panic among
the common people resulting in worsening of the health situation and also
making them wait for the vaccine to be prepared.
But now situations
are getting stabilized with social distancing as the new normal. Different
phases of re-opening of the lock down are allowing people to step out by
following all the new rules like wearing masks and gloves, and sanitizing their
hands from time to time. People suffering from different ailments other than
the virus could now contact their regular doctors for continuing the treatment.
A healthy lifestyle is the need of the hour. People have to step out of their
houses; if they are cautious and well informed about the criticality of the
situation, then they can easily tackle it. Videos, as well as written messages
from the health-care department, are trending on social media about hospitals
running out of beds. The prices of medicines will increase, people suffering
from other ailments are finding it difficult to approach the doctors as all the
hospitals are filled with the COVID patients, also doctors will be going on
strikes as they are not being paid dues and salaries. All this news has wreaked
havoc on people's mind and compelled them to suffer from depression.
But things are
getting normal. Doctors are now resuming their work and opening their chambers
for regular patients. Medical infrastructure is returning to normalcy. People
do not have to panic or assume any unwanted thoughts.
The health-care
industry is coming up with new rules and regulations to normalize the
situation. Many new steps have been taken so that no one has to suffer due to
medical negligence or stay deprived of medical treatment. The system of
e-consultation has been created which will enable one to consult their doctor
over the phone, seating at home without taking any risk. Arogya Setu app has
been launched to track the infected people so that others can be alerted.
Doctors are suggesting people get use a glucometer, oxygen saturation meter,
pressure checker, etc at home so that people can monitor their health from time
to time. Experts have suggested people not to stockpile the drugs
unnecessarily, as there is a sufficient supply of drugs in the market, and the
government has assured that the medical supply will remain the same. Doctors
are concentrating more on giving and following the appointment system so that
patients can make the social distancing among themselves, it will not put any
risk on the doctor’s life too. They are trying to monitor patients' body temperature
to track down the infection and give them the proper medication.
Conclusion: - In
the current situation, people cannot just seat at their homes waiting for the
vaccine to come out. They have families to feed and run their regular life. So,
keeping all the precautions in mind and following the social distancing rule
they have to step out of their houses, and stop avoiding doctors and must
consult them to improve their health not only physically but also mentally.
