Pharmacy plays a vital role in everyone’s life. We cannot deny the fact that today every individual suffers from some kind of ailment, whether it is a serious issue or a very normal one. Even for a minor gastric issue, we have to consume medicines.


The evolution of human beings is a science and the human body is designed in such a way that it needs medication from time to time. During the ancient period when the concept of doctor or pharmacist was not evolved, people used to take the help of herbs or magical formulas to get rid of the ailment. But with time, evolution started and the concept of the doctor emerged. And with this evolution, the documentation of medication started.


Before the modernization period in India, the Vaidya (the Doctor) used to provide herbal medicine for a sick person. Because of lack of knowledge, people were not left with the option other than to wait for the Vaidyas. But slowly things changed and people came out with the idea of storing medicine, which today we call as a pharmacy or a drug store.


The pharmacy shop is a great business in a way that it provides jobs to many unemployed people. If a person is not getting any job and wants to invest in a business, a drug store or a pharmacy is one of the best options to choose for. Also, if a student could not afford to pursue a career in the medical field due to a heavy course fee, then they can take Pharmacy as their career option. Today the value of a pharmacist is as equal as a doctor.


The lifestyle of people is changing with each passing day. They are so much relied on ready-to-eat food or other unhealthy activities that they are compelled to consult doctors. Doctors not only just advise them with do’s or don’ts, but also hand overs a long list of medicine, which could be easily availed from the pharmacy. These increase the pharmacy business. In every corner of a city, there is one local pharmacy. Today, a pharmacy not only provides you with drugs but they also are taking care of other factors that concentrate on sanitization or personal care.


In the digital world, the pharmacy has leaped and is participating equally with other technologies. Many new apps have been launched, which provide you with medicine. A person can easily order medicine sitting at their home. People associated with the pharmacy business are putting all kinds of efforts to grow their business in every possible way. And with the introduction of online business, a competition entered a pharmaceutical world. Normal business is getting affected as people order online and avoid going to the shop. They get access to those medicines that sometimes they cannot find in the shop.
The local pharmacy or online pharmacy both has its pros and cons. In India, people are reliable in pharmacies. They not just only approach the shop for medicine but also asks many suggestions from the pharmacist. Local pharmacies help people with their best quality service. They have come out with an idea to provide doctor’s consultancy in their shop which makes it easier for the customer to get access to any doctor of their choice, or we can say a community doctor. However, when a person is sick, they can approach the doctor and buy the medicine in that shop itself.


Hence, pharmacy deals with a huge demand and supply chain. But things have changed as people now choose to buy medicine online. Online pharmacy business is trying to prove itself promising by giving all the benefits to its customer. You can avail any medicine at a cheaper rate. Medicine which is difficult to get in local shops are easily available online and there one can know about the history of the medicine. 


Conclusion: - As the country is facing such a serious pandemic situation, pharmacist have played their role impeccably and boosted the economy considerably. With their great knowledge and research, they have made all the imperative products available to their customers, and enlighten them with the seriousness of the situation. They have reached almost every home for product delivery and are trying to make their service better.
